

A Showcase of Human Ingenuity
At 680 sqm, this is the largest of all the galleries, and is the only exhibition space on the second level, overlooking the other four galleries. Its centrepiece, The Human Face of Technology – a 360° screen showing a constantly updated video of stories told by people about their favorite technologies and why they love them.
This gallery presents technology not as a mere tool, gadget, or industrial advancement but as means to flesh out human values, to help us become better humans. Thus, the gallery is divided into five major themes with each theme occupying a Node. The themes of the Nodes are: How We Live, Who We Are, How We Know, How Things Work, and Here to There.

The topics covered are expression and communication This node will explore the tools that define human character. This will include tools that we use to create, modify, or spread human language as well as other expressions such as in art in the broadest sense - from literature to paintings to music to fashion.

The topics covered are precision and ingenuity. This is the node that nestles our sense of discovery as it features tools that help us extend our senses in order to encounter the once elusive, invisible and immeasurable. This will feature scientific instruments – from the classical pieces such as telescopes and microscopes to the largest scientific instrument in the planet – the Large Hadron Collider.

The topics covered are mechanics that changed the world. This node will house the machines that have altered the collective rhythm of human societies. This will deal with machines that deal with building public infrastructures, as well as extracting, manufacturing, or processing vast amounts of materials such as oil and food to sustain billions of lives.

The Human Face of Technology is the centrepiece of the gallery. This will be a 360 degree screen that will feature uploaded videos of people saying what their favorite technology is and why. This surround mode will enable visitors to view the screen from virtually all angles within the exhibition spaces of the museum. This will provide the human face to the tools that we have come to invent and innovate. It will also give the visual dynamism to the Technology gallery.
